What is Spirulina?
Spirulina is a nutrient-rich algae, which has been around for dozens of centuries. Originally located in alkaline-rich lakes in Africa and South America, spirulina has been consumed for its high nutritional properties, such as proteins, potassium, as well as beta-carotene.
How is Spirulina created?
Spirulina thrives in hot weather. Due to this, the spirulina will grow in tropical climates that are rich in sunlight. The environment that the spirulina grows in has to be pollutant free. This is due largely in part to the fact that the spirulina will thrive off of the carbon dioxide in the air, then creating oxygen. When there is poor carbon dioxide that is present, it can create spirulina that is toxic for human consumption.

I've read that you can't produce organic spirulina - is this true?
Absolutely not! Does it take extra work? Yes. Is it more expenisve? Of course. Is it worth it? You bet! Those naysayers tell you that the Chilean nitrates are no longer allowed under the new rules. This is true. They also tell you that alternative forms are full of bacteria. Also true, but only a half-truth. They only add bacteria to your spirulina if they are used in production. Only vegetarian sources of nitrates are used in production of xSpirulina. It takes more effort and it is more expensive to produce, which leads to small profit margins. It is as simple as that.
